I have been working with international students for more than 12 years now as immigration consultant and a realtor and have been writing about their plight. I have counselled them in choosing the rights study program, applied for their student visa, post graduate work permits, LMIA ( if required), PR applications and have represented them to sponsor their spouses after they get married. As a realtor,  I have also helped them to get settled in their first dream home.

I have always explained all international students the importance of getting into eligible jobs so that they are able to get necessary experience to apply for their PR application. I guide them throughout and also answer all their questions letting them know if the job they are landing into is eligible occupation or not. This is very crucial for their application for PR.

Since last few years, their journey has becoming difficult. Therefore, I would re-iterate here that international students should first search those skills that are in shortage in Canada and then find programs related to those skills. This will help them to find eligible jobs easily. This will ensure that they have high chances of getting their PR application approved.

Government, Universities and Colleges should also identify those skills that will remain in shortage in coming decade or so and offer those programs to domestic and international students. International students need more counselling and guidance before they get admissions in Canadian Designated institutes of learning.
